Mr. & Mrs. Smith 2: Lethal Vows (2026)

Now the CEOs of their own private espionage empire, John and Jane Smith find their domestic bliss shattered when a billion-dollar open contract makes them the world’s most wanted targets, turning their romantic European anniversary trip into a ballistic test of their marriage.

The Extended Synopsis

The Power Couple The marriage counseling is officially over. Ten years after they leveled their suburban home, John (Brad Pitt) and Jane (Angelina Jolie) have mastered the impossible balance of domestic bliss and international wet work. No longer taking orders, they have privatized their talents, running a boutique global intelligence firm from a heavily fortified brownstone. They are the “Mom and Pop” of assassination—efficient, expensive, and deeply in love.

The Inciting Incident But peace is boring. Just as the Smiths jet off for a well-deserved anniversary tour of Europe, a “ghost” from their shared past activates a “Burn Notice.” A shadowed adversary places a record-breaking $1 billion bounty on their heads. Suddenly, every assassin, mercenary, and cartel enforcer from London to Tokyo is hunting them.

Style and Substance Angelina Jolie returns as the ultimate weapon of mass seduction. She radiates dangerous elegance, transitioning from high-fashion evening gowns to tactical combat gear with breathtaking ease. Whether she is dismantling a bomb in a ballgown or sniping from a Parisian balcony, she remains the smartest person in the room.

Brad Pitt brings his signature rugged charm and chaotic energy back to John Smith. He is the hammer to Jane’s scalpel—improvising with C4, kitchen utensils, and dry wit. For John, the gunfire is just background noise to his constant attempts to impress his wife.

The War in Europe The film turns the romantic streets of Paris and Rome into a kinetic playground.

  • The Paris Drift: A high-speed chase around the Arc de Triomphe where John drives blind while Jane engages hostiles with a suppressed MP5.
  • The Colosseum Showdown: A massive firefight in the ancient ruins, proving that while empires fall, the Smiths are forever.

The Tech Support Returning to the fold is Benjamin “The Tank” Danz (Adam Brody), now the nervous, over-caffeinated CTO of their operation. Trying to guide them to safety from a basement in Queens, he provides the comic relief as the world collapses around them.

The Climax Facing a new generation of “influencer assassins” who rely on drones and algorithms, the Smiths must prove that old-school instincts (and a lot of explosives) still rule the game. It is a high-octane dance of bullets and banter, where trusting your partner is the hardest mission of all.

Why This Pitch Works

  • The Chemistry: The film relies entirely on the legendary screen presence of Pitt and Jolie. Their “bickering while reloading” dynamic is the engine of the movie.
  • The Glamour: This is “Action-Porn.” The cars are fast, the clothes are couture, and the locations are breathtaking. It is pure escapism.
  • The Hook: It flips the script of the first movie. In the first film, they were trying to kill each other. In this film, they are killing everyone else to stay together. As the tagline says: Love isn’t just a feeling—it’s a kill shot.
