Movie Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 6 (2025)

After decades of reboots, reimaginings, and animated spin-offs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 6 (2025) feels like a confident return to form — a film that embraces the goofy fun of its origins while delivering slick action and genuine heart.

The story sees the brothers — Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael — facing their most dangerous enemy yet: the return of the Shredder, resurrected with cybernetic enhancements by a shadowy tech corporation. To stop him, the Turtles must leave the sewers of New York and venture into uncharted territory: the neon-soaked underworld of Tokyo.

Visually, the movie blends practical stunt work with polished CGI, giving the Turtles expressive personalities without losing their gritty charm. The fight choreography is a highlight — fluid, inventive, and often hilarious, with Michelangelo turning a chase scene on scooters into pure slapstick gold.

Voice performances are strong across the board, with fresh young actors giving the brothers distinct energy, while veteran actor Ken Watanabe lends gravitas as a reimagined Splinter. The dynamic between the brothers remains the franchise’s heart: Leo’s stoicism, Raph’s temper, Donnie’s brains, and Mikey’s endless jokes all clash and harmonize in equal measure.

Tonally, the film strikes a surprisingly effective balance. It’s darker than some of the previous installments, with real stakes and moments of loss, but it never loses sight of the humor and camaraderie that make the Turtles timeless. A climactic rooftop battle in the rain — the brothers vs. Mecha-Shredder — is both visually stunning and emotionally charged, cementing itself as one of the franchise’s best set pieces.

If the film falters, it’s in its crowded middle act, where subplots about mutant allies and corporate conspiracies threaten to bloat the runtime. Still, director Travis Knight keeps the pace brisk enough that the movie never derails.

Verdict:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 6 (2025) proves the franchise still has plenty of shell left to crack. With thrilling action, heartfelt brotherhood, and just the right amount of pizza-fueled comedy, it’s one of the strongest TMNT entries to date.
