The Nun 3 (2025)
“Evil wears many faces… and none at all.” ⛪😈

The Conjuring universe returns to its darkest corridors with The Nun 3, a chilling and atmospheric sequel that raises the stakes — and the terror — for Sister Irene’s battle against the demon Valak. Directed by Michael Chaves, this third chapter trades jump-scare overload for a slow-burning dread that seeps into every shadow.

Set in the early 1970s, the story follows Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) after a string of unexplained church fires across Europe point to Valak’s return. Teaming up once more with Maurice “Frenchie” Theriault (Jonas Bloquet), now haunted by fragments of his past possession, they travel to an isolated monastery in Romania — a place whispered to be cursed long before Valak’s first appearance.

The setting is a character in itself: endless candlelit halls, frost-covered courtyards, and crypts echoing with distant whispers. Cinematographer Maxime Alexandre bathes the film in cold, muted tones, making even daylight feel unsafe.

Farmiga delivers her most commanding performance yet, blending quiet faith with a steel-edged determination. Bloquet adds emotional depth, his character torn between redemption and fear of relapse. Newcomer Anya Chalotra is a standout as a mysterious novice nun whose connection to Valak runs disturbingly deep.

The scares are crafted with precision — not just startling, but unsettling. From ghostly processions in the fog to a harrowing sequence in which church statues seem to turn and watch, The Nun 3 thrives on its ability to keep audiences holding their breath. Valak’s presence feels more malevolent than ever, her appearances sparing but devastating.

By the finale — a claustrophobic showdown beneath the monastery, where faith and fear collide — the film cements itself as one of the franchise’s strongest entries. The Nun 3 isn’t just a continuation; it’s a haunting reminder that some evil never truly dies… it only waits for the right moment to return.
