💄✨ True Beauty Season 2: What Fans Can Expect in the Next Chapter
Since its first airing in late 2020, True Beauty quickly became one of the most beloved Korean dramas of the decade, blending heartfelt teen romance with themes of identity, insecurity, and self-love. Based on the wildly popular webtoon by Yaongyi, the show starred Moon Ga-young, Cha Eun-woo, and Hwang In-yeop, and captured millions of fans across Asia and beyond.
With such massive success, many fans have been eagerly asking the same question: Will there be a Season 2 of True Beauty?
The answer depends on which version of True Beauty you’re following: the K-drama, or the newer anime adaptation (called an aeni in Korea).
🎬 K-Drama: A One-Season Wonder
📝 Season 1 Recap
The K-drama version of True Beauty told the story of Lim Ju-kyung, a high school girl who masters makeup to conceal her insecurities and bullying experiences. When she transfers to a new school, she finds herself caught between two boys—Lee Su-ho, a cold-hearted but sincere top student, and Han Seo-jun, a rebellious but loyal friend. As Ju-kyung navigates friendships, romance, and her journey toward self-acceptance, the series balanced humor and emotion with stunning visuals and stylish performances.
The drama ended with a bittersweet but fulfilling conclusion, showing Ju-kyung choosing love, finding her voice, and slowly shedding her fear of being seen without makeup.
❌ Season 2: Not Happening
Despite the massive popularity, tvN has officially confirmed that no second season is planned for the K-drama. In interviews and press statements, producers expressed that the show was always meant to be a single-season coming-of-age story. Korean dramas, unlike their Western counterparts, often stick to self-contained formats, and sequels are rarely greenlit unless the original story was incomplete (like Kingdom or Penthouse).
None of the original cast members—Moon Ga-young, Cha Eun-woo, or Hwang In-yeop—have hinted at returning, and all are currently involved in other major film and drama projects.
Fans took to Reddit and Twitter to voice their disappointment:
“There are so many untold stories… We wanted to see them in college!”
“The drama ended too quickly. I would’ve loved to see Su-ho and Ju-kyung as adults.”
However, all hopes aren’t lost.
🎨 True Beauty: The Animated Series (Aeni)
📺 The Anime Version
In a surprising twist, True Beauty was reimagined as an animated series, or aeni, which premiered in August 2024. Produced by Studio N and Cocktail Media, the anime adaptation was based directly on the original webtoon, with faithful story arcs, character designs, and even original Korean voice actors.
✅ Season 2 Confirmed
In January 2025, Crunchyroll and Studio N confirmed that Season 2 of the True Beauty anime is officially in production. The announcement came with a promotional image of Jugyeong, Suho, and Seojun in traditional hanbok, teasing a holiday-themed OVA episode and the upcoming new arc.
